Dr. David A. Cantley
Dr. Cantley has lived most of his life in the Tri-Cities. He grew up in Kennewick and graduated from Kennewick High School. He is a graduate of Pacific University's College of Optometry where he obtained his Doctorate Degree in Optometry and earned the President's Silver Medal Award for having achieved the highest academic standing in his class. Dr. Cantley has been practicing optometry since 1988 as a partner in the Heaston Vision Clinic until April 2003 when he opted to build his own clinic forming the Cantley Vision Clinic.
Prior to becoming an Optometrist, Dr. Cantley was an engineer. He graduated from Washington State University and accepted a job right out of college for General Electric in Sunnyvale California. During the five years he lived in California he was fortunate to participate in the GE-Stanford University Honors Co-op Program which allowed him to obtain his Masters Degree in Materials Science.
After 5 years at GE he was recruited to work for the Hanford Engineering Development Laboratory. This represented an opportunity to move back home where his two children could grow up close to their grandparents, aunts and uncles. After 10 years there and one year on assignment at DOE headquarters, he made the decision to switch to Optometry, a decision that has proven over the years to be beneficial both personally and professionally. Dr. Cantley enjoys all aspects of Optometry and particularly enjoys working with his patients and helping them to find the best solutions to meet their vision needs.
Away from the office Dr. Cantley enjoys spending time with his grown children, Jason and Jeni, his father and three brothers and their families. Whenever possible he likes to indulge his passion for golf where he might be seen on any of the area golf courses looking for one of his errant shots. He is still in pursuit of that first hole-in-one. He also enjoys boating on the Snake and Columbia rivers and likes a good novel now and then.
